Abstract

This text explores the challenges and expectations of the professional journey toward executive leadership in complex and constantly innovative times. Young professionals aspire to high-level positions but face a long path of technical and emotional preparation. Leadership is highlighted as an essential competency, rooted in influence and relationships rather than mere authority. The Brazilian economic context and historical crises are cited as obstacles to effective management. Managerial training requires emotional balance, communication skills, continuous learning, and adaptability to strategic changes. The research is qualitative and exploratory, based on a literature review. The text presents five challenges and five propositions for the development of managers. The conclusion emphasizes that managerial training extends beyond academia, involving lived experience and cultural understanding. The external environment strongly influences managerial performance. Reflecting on these elements aims to stimulate new discussions on leadership and professional success.
